In response to
continued strong passenger demand, Air Tahiti Nui has scheduled an
additional frequency this summer to both Papeete and Paris from Los
Angeles, the carrier's U.S. Gateway.
The new flights will bring the total per week offered from
Los
Angeles by Tahiti's International Flag Carrier to 14 to Papeete and 6
to Paris for the summer schedule between June 30 and August 27. These
extra flights will depart Papeete every Monday at 23:55 (TN 22), will
arrive Los Angeles Tuesday at 11:10, depart at 13:10 and arrive
Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport Wednesday at 9:05. The departure from
Paris will be on Wednesday at 11:30 (TN 21), and will arrive in Los
Angeles at 14:20, depart Los Angeles at 16:20 and arrive Papeete at
21:55.
"In an international travel landscape torn by consumer
concerns, Tahiti continues to be a bright star," said Wally Sumner, Air Tahiti
Nui's Vice President-North America. "We are adding these flights to
accommodate peak travel demand to both French Polynesia and Paris
while the trend within the industry seems to be curtailment of
services," Sumner added.
Papeete is only 7 1/2 hours from Los Angeles on Air Tahiti
Nui's new, comfortable Airbus A-340-300 aircraft, Sumner noted. Offering 3
classes of service, the carrier has been recognized for its friendly
service and excellent reliability and has become the leader in
passenger air traffic between North America and French Polynesia, and
has served the Los Angeles to Paris market for one year.
Air Tahiti Nui has a wide variety of value packages offered
by tour operators specializing in the South Pacific region, as well as
Paris. The airline also works with cruise companies that have ships
positioned in Tahiti for 7 and 10 day excursions.
