LOS ANGELES—(BUSINESS WIRE)—July 15, 2002—Air Tahiti Nui, the international flag carrier of French Polynesia, announced today that it has increased its flight schedule between Los Angeles and Paris from 2 to 3 weekly flights.
"We have been very pleased with the heavy demand on our introductory flights between Los Angeles and Paris," said Wally Sumner, Air Tahiti Nui's Vice President-North America. "Since inauguration of the service -- our first ever Transatlantic flights -- in May of this year, our load factor has grown steadily and we are anticipating a very strong summer season so we have added a third frequency," he pointed out.
The leading carrier in the market between North America and Tahiti, Air Tahiti Nui has spread its wings with the addition of a third Airbus A-340-300 which now has allowed the Company to also increase its capacity between Los Angeles and Papeete, Sumner noted. Air Tahiti Nui, in addition to its 3 weekly nonstop flights to Paris, is offering a record level of capacity this summer between Los Angeles and Tahiti with 8 weekly frequencies -- daily service with double daily service being offered on Sundays.
In addition to the long-haul traffic which moves between Tahiti and Paris, Sumner said that the airline is working closely with tour operators and travel agents on the Los Angeles to Paris segment where Air Tahiti Nui has full traffic rights. Sumner noted that Air Tahiti Nui distinguishes itself from the competition on the route with its modern, high technology 3-class aircraft and superior Tahitian in-flight service.
