Close to Opunohu Bay on the northeast coast of the island, sheltered from the prevailing winds, the InterContinental Moorea Resort and Spa is located voluptuously between the mountains and lagoon.
The 17 Garden Suite Bungalows, the 50 Overwater and 28 Beach Suite Bungalows(also called "fare"), as well as the 48 Garden View Rooms, were all decorated with a concern of combining a respect for the local traditions with non-conspicuous contemporary luxury. Noble woods and natural materials were elegantly used in the decor. These include parquet or bamboo, Méranti of Indonesia partitions, mahogany and wicker furniture and natural coloured wall coverings. The furniture of distinguished and original lines, as well as objects made from Tahitian arts and crafts, (paintings, tapas...) compose a refined and harmonious ensemble and reinforce the Polynesian identity of this dream hotel.
